- Players return to the bench if thrown or tagged out, or their fly ball is caught.
- 3 Outs OR after the entire line-up bats will end the inning.
- No infield fly rule.
- No leads or stealing bases.
- Coaches act as umpires. Close calls go to the runner.
- Six defensive players are on the infield at one time.
- Pitcher – catcher – first base – second base – shortstop - third base
- The remaining players are spread evenly in the outfield.
- No outfielder is allowed to play any closer to the infield than the edge of the grass or the equivalent distance on fields without infield dirt.
- Catcher must wear a helmet, stand 10’ behind the batter, and be accompanied by a coach.
- All children play all positions throughout the season.
- The only offensive players outside the dugout are base runners, the batter and one on-deck batter.
- All offensive players must wear a helmet.
- After three missed pitches (strikes), the batter bats from the Tee. No Strikeouts. This will keep the pace moving.
- Pitches from coaches should be overhand with little to no arc. Underhand with little to no arc is acceptable if the player level requires it.
- Runners may continue to advance until the ball reaches the infield.
- When the last batter reaches the base and the play is complete, retire the side. Don’t clear the bases.
The maximum number of coaches allowed on the field:
- 1 on Defense with the catcher to insure safety.
- 3 on Offense: pitcher, first base coach and third base coach.
- Use parents as base coaches if needed but remember who the coaches are.
After the Game:
- All players and coaches line-up and shake hands. Players then return to the bench for a concession ticket and then are dismissed by their coach.
- This alleviates a child taking off without their parents.
- Be respectful to other coaches, players and parents, leave the field promptly at the end of your time slot. (1 hour)
- Check your dugout for garbage and equipment before exiting.
- The last game of the evening is responsible for putting the bases and batting tee in the Field Boxes AND locking the boc.
- The coach is responsible for all MAA baseball equipment.
