1. At least eight (8) players must be available to play by 6:15 p.m. or the team will forfeit the game. Upon a forfeit, a fun game can be played among the players available, only if the coaches from both teams are present for the entire game.
2. All players must wear the uniform issued by M.A.A. for that season. The uniforms may not be altered in any way. Metal spikes, jewelry, casts, braces or splints are not to be worn on the playing field. Athletic cups are highly recommended. Full catcher’s gear is required.
3. Each team’s coaches have the combination for the field boxes. These boxes contain a batting tee, pitching machine, bases, and first aid kit. The teams playing the last game of the evening are responsible for putting the bases and batting tees away, inserting the base pegs and locking the field boxes.
GAME RULES
Modified Land-O-Hills 11 & 12 Little League rules will be followed. Rules for M.A.A. 9 & 10 Little League are as follows:
1. Each game is scheduled for seven (7) innings or 80 minutes
2. No inning will be started after the 80th minute.
3. NEW FOR 2006: M.A.A. will supply 1 paid plate umpire for these games. These are FIRST YEAR boys and girls. Please support them. Umpires have the first and last say in calling a game due to inclement weather or lightning.
4. All players present will bat in normal numerical order the entire game.
5. All players present will play a minimum of three (3) innings on defense.
6. Pitchers may pitch a maximum of two (2) innings per game and four (4) innings in a 7-day period. Any pitcher that hits 2 batters in the same inning must be removed from pitching. The player may continue to play, but may not return to pitch that game.
7. A team will field three (3) outfielders on defense. These outfielders may not play on the infield. They must be in the outfield grass or an equivalent distance on a field with no dirt infield.
8. Player substitutions are unlimited. A player may re-enter a game at any time and into any position.
9. A half inning is complete when three outs are made or when a team bats through their order. Each team’s batting order will consist of the same number of players. As an example, if one team has 12 players and the other team has 11 players, each team will be allowed to bat 12 players per inning if 3 outs are not achieved first.
10. No lead offs. The runner may leave the base when the batter makes contact with the ball. No stealing. If the runner leaves early, he will get a warning. The second time, the runner will be called out. If a batter swings and misses the runner returns to the base with no consequences.
11. No stealing is allowed.
12. No balks will be called. If a balk occurs, the coach and/or umpire should instruct the player of the proper technique before he/she resumes pitching.
13. When the bases are loaded, a walk will occur after seven (7) balls are called. This will apply during the entire at bat, even if runners advance on an overthrow.
14. Dropped 3rd strike the batter is out.
15. Infield fly is not in effect.
16. Speed up Rule: Have the catcher’s ready prior to the 3rd out of the inning.
17. NEW FOR 2006: All runners must slide at home plate if the ball is in the infield. CRASHING into the catcher is an automatic out.
18. Base distance = 60’ Pitching distance = 46’
This is M.A.A.’s 3rd year of player pitch at the 9 & 10-year-old level. The preceding rules are a culmination of the rules used by surrounding communities for equivalent age and leagues and modified Land-O-Hills 11 & 12 Little League rules. If the need to revise a rule during the season arises, a coach representing each team, the league director and the league commissioner will meet to discuss and agree upon the revision.
As a coach you are a role model for these players. You are to instill into these players the fundamentals of baseball, the importance of teamwork and the value of sportsmanship. The children are to enjoy the game of baseball. Practices are for working hard. Games for fun!
